Masters Reimagined

The Covid pandemic shut us down for almost all of 2020 but we're glad to starting hosting art exhibits again this year! Our March exhibit dedicated to Youth Art Month was a success and now we are excited to announce our summer art exhibit Masters Reimagined: The VAAL Summer Art Show. The opening reception is on July 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

This is our regular summer art show featuring the artists of the Visual Artists Alliance of LaGrange. In our 4th annual exhibit with VAAL, we gave participating artists the challenge of creating pieces that were reinterpretations of past masterworks. They chose subjects from Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Dali, Kandinsky, Monet, Rodin and lots more. I have been really impressed with what they created.

Here is Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring reimagined as a photograph and with a different expression.

And the same photographer tried to find a younger Mona Lisa, in which I think she succeeded.

Reinterpreting existing works presented our artists with the task of creating within certain boundaries. Personally, I found that to be a very fulfilling effort. Please come join us on July 10, 2021 at 6:00 pm to see if you're as pleased with the results as we are!

Admire so much of what is going on in this blog. About this post: who is the photographer?
